Was it right for Tonto Dikeh to announce Halima’s condition to the world?
On Sunday, 16th of July, Tonto Dikeh informed everyone via Instagram that she had gone “to pick her friend”, Halima Abubakar from the hospital, telling the world that she will now be taking care of Halima.
While her intentions were good, do you think it was right to put out such information on social media? Especially when the person in question is your friend and a popular one.
The issue of trying to make everything social media worthy in our world today is becoming an obsession. We want everyone to know what we’re doing at every point in time, especially when this act is considered noble by the society.
Some of the questions that will go through your mind when Tonto posted that photo was; “Does Halima need contributions” “is she looking for care givers” “does she need any help?” Well, after reading the caption, you’d realize that she needs nothing of such.
The post is only an information to the world through Tonto Dikeh that she is taking care of her friend, an information which makes you want to ask the question of “where is her family?” However, after a statement released by the brother of the ailing actress concerning the well being of their sister, we know they exist and are fine.
While nobody is saying Tonto Dikeh should not care for her friend, we believe she should permit her friend that privacy to heal without bother or any “disturbances” from the media, that attention at this point is not necessary. Telling us she would be taking care of her friend was also not necessary to an extent, because she is your friend, I mean, you can help and not tell us about it. But then, if you want to tell us about it, please do so with a better photo like the sister did on Halima’s Instagram page, especially when your intention is not to either get sympathy or ask for a donation.
So what do you guys think? Was it right for Tonto Dikeh to post her friend’s photo in such a state online? Let’s hear from you.
