Soldiers arrest armed group in Benue


Troops of 93 battalion of the Nigerian army stationed in Takum, Taraba state arrested nine members of an armed militia known as civilian JTF at Arufu, a boundary town between Taraba and Benue states. .

The army disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday. The statement said five of them were armed with AK-47 rifles fully loaded. “On their arrest, a reinforcement of CJTF came to prevent troops from arresting and transporting the arrested CJTF to the Battalion Headquarters.

When the troops stood their ground, the armed militia’s reinforcement later withdrew. The suspects confirmed that they were 60 in number in their own camp located at Gbeyi, Benue state," the statement read. .

The statement said investigation revealed that they were more than 1,000 at the camp, while over 700 of them bear arms. There has been a wave of insecurity in Benue in the last one week.

The suspects are cooperating with their investigators while security operatives are conducting further investigations to unravel the real sponsors of the armed gang and their motives.

20-year-old lady stabs her husband to death in Anambra

A 20-year-old lady identified as Makoduchukwu Ndubisi, has been arrested by the  Anambra State  Police command after she stabbed husband to death. The  20-year-old lady who was arrested at their residence at NO. 16 Donking Street, Nsugbe, Anambra State, stabbed her husband John Bosko Ngu, on his chest with a sharp knife over a feud yet to be ascertained.
