Actress Bukunmi Oluwashina who recently imbibe activism mindset by speaking out when necessary just weighed into Actress Azeezat Shorunmu rant on social media on how producer treat Nollywood Writers (read here)

I understand you to details cos I have been in your shoes. Please let’s be taking our time to appreciate our scriptwriters. Cos without them, there is nothing called “A good movie” cos storytelling and dialogues are one of the most important thing in movie making. But with all the stress of adding this one to that one, sleepless nights and all the cracking of brain. And shadede movie will be out, only for you to be looking for your name up and down like network. Your own is even better. Sebi they didn’t put your name ni. Not like they gave the credit to someone else. Our own case then, we would shadede see “Written and Produced by:” the producer would suddenly become the scriptwriter. And when you call to ask that “worapun na?
” they would say it’s the editor that didn’t put name. When it got to the brim, I just had to stop writing for people and focus on myself alone for a while. Cos isn’t not encouraging. But what of those who only survive on being a writer and working so hard to be known and celebrated some day? What of those who went to school to study and major in script writing?? When would they be known too? What is their fate if someone else keep getting their credits or when they are not getting any??? There are differences between “Story By” and “Written By” Some people would even be the one to create the story and write, still, their name would be no where to be found on the project. Haba!
