Movie Review-A Look At The Wedding Party, and Reasons We Can’t Wait For Party 2.
Towards the end of last year, the Nigerian industry was greeted by a movie titled “The Wedding Party” produced by Ebony Life Tv, in conjunction with Inkblot Inc, and directed by Kemi Adetiba.
Characterization.
The Wedding Party featured an array of A-list actors and actresses such as Richard Mofe Damijo, Ireti Doyle, Sola Sobowale, Ace comedian Ali Baba, Somkele Idhalama, Adesua Etomi, Banky W, Enyinna Nyinwe, Musician Ikechukwu, Beverly Naya and a host of others.
Plot.
The movie is centered on two Lover birds, Dunni and Dozie played by Adesua Etomi and Banky W who are getting married. The couple who are 100% in love are faced by their mothers played by Sola Sobowale and Ireti Doyle who are at logger heads over whose family is more wealthy.
The wedding is which is supposed to seal the union of both families, is about to be shattered by the effort of Rosie played by Beverly Naya who happens to be Dozie’s ex-girlfriend. Rosie goes as far as planting her underwear in Dozie’s pocket in order to hatch her evil plans. On the other hand, is Dozie’s mum who feels Dunni is not good enough for her son, and is irritated by their union.
On the wedding day, an unexpected wedding guest who happens to be a robber, a role played by Sambasa Nzeribe shows up in the party to rob the parents of the couple, an event that reunites them.
This movie grossed over 400million Naira when it landed the Cinema, as Nigerians went all out to see this movie that everybody and the media was talking about
The Wedding Party is one movie with a blend of Comedy and romance that reflects how Nigerians actually love weddings and celebrations and a look at some of the controversies thar sometimes come with them.
With the Wedding Party Part two coming up, we simply can’t wait to be blown away as Mama G (Patience Ozokwor) and Chiwetalu Agu have been added to the cast.
