The organizers of the Prestigious Prominent Oyo People’s Awards {POPA} has unveiled Yoruba Actress, Kemi Afolabi as the host for the 2018 edition of the much talked about annual event. The Award ceremony, which promises to be classy, will hold on June 26 th  2018, at Mauve 21 Event Center, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State. It kicks off with Red Carpet by 1PM. If you must know, the host, Kemi Afolabi was born on 28th of April 1978 in Lagos, but has her roots from  Ijebu Ayepe, Ogun State. She graduated from the University of Lagos. Her first appearance in Yoruba movie was in Alagba and several others.

Hurray, it is another celebrity’s kid’s birthday today. Yiyenitemi, one of the 3 boys of star actor, Kunle Afod from his damsel, Desola Afod is one today. Another death has occurred in the Yoruba movie industry as you are reading this. It is the death of one of the directors, actors cum producers, Alhaji Saidi Lawal, who was the General Secretary of the Indegenous Movie Makers Association of Nigeria. According to the information at www.yorubamoviegist.com’s disposal, the charismatic director died this morning, 4th June 2018, after a serious battle with stroke. In his life time, he was a member of Awada Kerikeri, a theater group headed by Femi Adebayo’s dad, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello. Lawal, was also good in script writing and one of those he worked with in the industry is sexy actress, Iyabo Ojo. May His Soul Rest in Peace.

Report has claimed that things are nit in good shape between a Veteran Nollywood actor, Kareem Adepoju popularly known as Baba Wande and another veteran Cinematographer, Director cum Producer, Tunde Kelani over the release of the yesteryears’ blockbuster “Ti Oluwa Nile” which hits the shelves in 1993. Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi The Ooni of Ife,  Oba Enitan Ogunwusi  will sign a treaty declaring Salvador in Bahia, Brazil, a twin city to Ile-Ife, Osun State. According to  Vanguard , the bill had been passed by the Congress of Salvador, and the Ooni is expected to sign on behalf of the Yoruba people around the world. The treaty has been described by  Ayo Omidire , the Director, Institute of African Studies,  Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile Ife, as an opportunity for cultural exchange and artistic and economic empowerment. A statement released by the Ooni’s Palace read: The treaty is for the entire Yoruba race. Ile-Ife was mentioned specifically being the headquarters of the Yoruba race. So as Ife is the recognised ancestral home of the Yoruba people, Bahia is henceforth seen as the headquarters of Yoruba race in Americas. All Yoruba speaking states will benefit from the opportunities listed in the agreement.
