The Bar Beach Division Police, Lagos State Police Command, Victoria Island, Lagos, has confirmed the arrest of seven of the 10-man gang who stormed the Eko Hotel premises with the intention to steal and rob guests who attended Davido’s 30Billion Concert. A source revealed that the feat was achieved by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO incharge of Bar Beach Division,Victoria Island, CSP Olusegun Ajamolaya. Police Identified the arrested suspects as Augustine Ode, 22; Yusuf Lawal, 26; Saheed Olasupo,27 and Babatunde Balogun, 28. Others included Owoyele Moses, 27; Adewola Akinyeli, 28 and George Daniel, 27. The suspects allegedly arrived at Eko Hotel premises at about 3.30am while the Concert was ongoing, attacked a guest, Oladapo Adeola and robbed him of his N75,000 and a Techno Spark Plus K9 phone valued at N42,000 and started beating him unknown to them that the DPO was on ground with his men. Giving her end of the year testimony in church today,Mother of popular Nigeria singer   ,  Simi , disclosed that she is getting married next month. According to the singer’s mum who is over 50 who testified at   Daystar Christian Center , Lagos, her daughter had often advised her to attend programs at other churches since Daystar was majorly a youth church. NetNG reports that she disclosed that one of her wish since she joined the church, has been to get married and it is already becoming a reality.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has said that five persons died and 13 others injured in an accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday. Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr. Clement Oladele, told the News Agency of Nigeria in an interview in Ota, Ogun, that the accident occurred at Wazobia, at about 9.00 a.m. Oladele said two vehicles and 18 persons were involved in the accident that resulted in the death of five persons, while 13 others sustained various degrees of injuries. The sector commander explained that a commercial bus with registration number MGD 129 ZF coming from Ibadan to Lagos lost control and veered off the road and collided with a trailer with registration number DDA 121 XA that was parked by the road side. “The corpses of the victims had been deposited at the mortuary in Ipara General Hospital, while the survivors are also receiving treatment at Sagamu and Victory Hospital, Ogere,’’ he said. The Black Lives Matter activist Erica Garner has died, after a week in hospital following a heart attack. She was 27 Garner was the daughter of Eric Garner, a man who died in a police chokehold in New York in 2014. Announcing Garner’s death in New York on Saturday morning, the Rev Al Sharpton said she was “a warrior to the end” and said “her heart was broken when she didn’t get justice … the [heart] attack just dealt with the pieces that were left.” Four months ago, Garner gave birth to a son. She also had an eight-year-old daughter. Eric Garner, who was 43, died in Staten Island in July 2014 after a white police officer subdued him with an illegal chokehold, during an arrest over the alleged sale of untaxed loose cigarettes. He also suffered from asthma. His last words, “I can’t breathe”, became a slogan for activists protesting police brutality against African Americans.

The police have said that making phone calls at filling stations is a criminal offence which could land the offender in jail. The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, stated that an offender could be prosecuted and jailed for attempted arson. He noted that police officers have the authority to arrest anyone found making phone calls or smoking at filling stations. He described the filling station as a public facility where motorists cannot act as they like on account of the inflammable products like petrol and other petroleum products being dispensed there. Moshood, therefore, cautioned the public against violating the safety rules forbidding smoking and phone calls at filling stations. He said, “Making phone calls or smoking at filling stations is a criminal offence and the police, of course, could arrest anyone violating the safety rules put in place to safeguard life and property at the filling stations.”

At least 36 people have been confirmed dead after a Nairobi-bound bus collided with a truck at Migaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Sunday, December 31. Among the dead include the driver of the truck and his loader while 28 bodies were retrieved from the ill-fated bus. Seventeen other people were seriously injured in the crash which occurred at around 3.30am Confirming the incident, Rift Valley Traffic Enforcement Officer Zero Arome said the speeding bus which was travelling from Busia was being driven on the wrong lane when it collided with the truck head on. The injured people have been rushed to Molo Sub-County Hospital and the Nakuru Level Five Hospital. Rescue operations are still going. Thirty people were confirmed dead at the scene while another four succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Nakuru Level Five Hospital. Among the four who died in hospital were three children aged two months, two years and 10 years and one adult aged 35 years.

Popular socialite, Pretty Mike, is in the news again for another controversial reason. A few weeks ago, he decided to get himself a new pet and opted for a python. After he acquired the snake, he took pictures of himself bathing with the reptile and also announced the name of the snake as Toke Makinwa. Famous Yoruba Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu has definitely made up her mind not to condone any more insults from fans on social media. In June 2017, there were reports flying around about an 11-year-old boy, popularly known as “Shanawole” who belongs to the Eiye confraternity.. The Pastor of This Present House, Tony Rapu, rescued shanawole from the streets during a  “God Bless Nigeria/Freedom Foundation rehabilitation mission.” The 11-year-old boy who says he belongs to Eiye confraternity and smokes marijuana well – revealed that if anyone messes with him or his group, it’s his job to kill the person/hack the person down. He also said that if anyone tries to fight them, he and his boys will hit the person very hard. The young boy who also claimed to be robber – was taken off the streets and underwent rehabilitation..  Here’s the video: 6 months later, Shanawole is now known as “Pastor Michael”, He’s transformed to a pastor and a tennis player.
